About us.
We are the recognized leader of the heavy construction industry in Kansas, and the voice for heavy construction at the Statehouse.
Proud to Build Kansas. Founded more than a century ago, the Kansas Contractors Association represents more than 220 companies working in the Kansas heavy construction industry. Collectively, our member contractors and suppliers employ more than 43,000 Kansans.
What is heavy construction? Think “planes, trains and automobiles.” Our members build the infrastructure that the Kansas economy and our families depend on every day, including highways, bridges, underground utilities, clean & waste water systems, railroads and airports.
KCA is a state chapter of both AGC of America and ARTBA.
Our industry by the numbers.
Kansas contractors build the infrastructure that delivers for our families, our communities and our economy, including:
142,054 miles of Kansas roads and 24,925 bridges to safely transport our families
340 million tons of freight moved to market by Kansas railroads
209 million gallons of clean drinking water delivered by water treatment plants every day
82,000 miles of utility lines that power our homes and businesses
6,400 dams and stormwater plants that secure our homes and ag land
$9 billion economic return for our state from Kansas airports
